Location of Odung public Library.
Odung public library is located at junior quarters "A" Obote avenue Lira- Kitgum road just one kilo meter away from the Lira central police station.

Background of the Odung public library
Odung Public Library social institution that was established by law in 2014,
financed by public fund, open for all without any discrimination, for general
and free access and retrieval of knowledge and information by the community of Lira, Apac, Amolatar, Dokolo, Alebtong, Otuke, Kole, Oyam and the whole of Lango sub region.
we have a varieties of materials in our library collection of over 2000 manual books, about 70 journals that contains information on Public Health and Criminal justice, Vocational and Professional Studies. We also have online resources like e- books, e-journals, online databases that helps communities to access and retrieve the information need at a right time. we also have about 50 computers with enough seats and many others.

The mission of Odung public library is to provide free and open access
to a broad range of materials and services to people of all ages and
backgrounds.

The main objectives of Odung public library are as follows:
- To provide up-to-date and authentic information on all subjects; like the youth, business people, children, farmers and education for adults
- To provide services free of cost or at nominal rates to each member of the society without any discrimination;
- To be responsible for preservation and development of cultural traditional information and antiquarian heritage of the community and lango sub region as a whole.

we offer references services where the users can can be refereed to the location of of items and materials within our library and making inquiries of what he or she wants to know. this helps the our patrons find out and get the information they want at right time.

we have a large and comfortable reading space where any can read and retrieve information at any once interest and convenience at any working hours Monday to Sunday.

we also do orientation to the new people especially the cooperatives who wants to find more information about their groups and how they can manage them effectively

Our books are cataloged and classified according to their titles and authorship where patrons can easily access and find the books required of any interest like reading books for; Children, farmers, law makers, business People, constitutional book and many other books which are well classified and cataloged.

We also offer The life skills component every Sundays for prisoners which includes instructions on how to search for a job and How to behave in the community after completing the periods they had been imprisoned for and also carrier guidance to prisoners which is always conducted in a separate computer laboratory specifically for training.

8. Online internet search:
We offer an online search for the information the patrons wants to find out through the use of available computers where the user just access any any information at his or her convenient time schedule because we have over Fifty computers connected to internet for those who can use the computer well for those who are working class.
